Purchasing & Acquisitions Manager

Job Description
Accountable for the Company’s power cable, communications cable, data cable, photovoltaic cable, industrial electrical devices, custom cable assemblies, HED lighting systems, purchases. In conjunction and cooperation with other functional areas (manufacturing, QC, regulatory compliance, engineering, sales, etc.) leads the development and implementation of the Company’s global procurement, sourcing, supplier management, logistics, and procurement information system strategies and systems, which create and sustain the Company’s competitive advantage.

Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement global product sourcing, procurement and logistics strategies and programs.
- Conduct vendor selection and site visitation to determine supplier suitability.
- Stay abreast of worldwide economic conditions and market forces impacting major commodities PVC, Copper, Resins, Brass. Stay current, and in compliance, with business law as it pertains to global procurement.
- Stay current with all North American product law and certification standards. (UL, ETL. CSA, ISO, OSHA, MESHA, SAE, ASTM … etc.)
- Actively manage the key manufacturers and develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers including frequent site inspections and daily communications.
- Negotiate multi-million dollar, multi-year, multi-dimensional contracts for the benefit of the Company.
- Drive significant cost reductions through quarterly review of material and finished good cost and annual or bi-annual contract negotiations, outsourcing and materials management strategies.
- Lead the inventory & forecast review team.
- Develop and implement e-commerce, channels, and capabilities.
- Align procurement strategies with Sales and Operations in order to ensure that the necessary resources are in place to meet production and delivery schedules at various factory locations.
- Participate in the new product selection and development process by providing leadership for all procurement-related plans, sourcing, factory evaluation, first article approval, processes, and metrics.
- Manage logistics, including ocean carriers, drayage companies, ltl carriers, customs clearance.
- Coordinate delivery schedules and error correction in documentary and scheduling projections.
- Chinese (Mandarin) spoken language in daily telecommunications with overseas factory personnel (60%), Chinese written (traditional and simplified) language document translation (40%).
- Incumbent is required to travel extensively throughout Asia to suppliers and customers’ locations, including frequent (once every 4-6 weeks) travel to China to visit suppliers.
